Moonlight fleeting,
Shadows and curves brought to life.
She dances,
Delicate in her steps,
One, two, three four,
Not too fast, not too slow.
Gaining speed,
The silent sound of chimes cause her
To quicken the tempo,
Every move deliberate,
Every move brought to light.

I watch,
Her every move a delight,
Her scent on the gentle breeze,
A sweet drug in the dark night,
A rose in full bloom.
My cold heart, it longs,
For such a creature to look it’s way.
But what would an angel have to do
With a demon in disguise?

Suddenly, she stops.
Poised perfectly,
Eyes cast on the ground.
I can’t breathe.
All I want for her is to move.
Her eyes rise.
My heart skips a beat.
Bright blues meet dusky brown,
Twinkling in their knowing way.
All I can do is stare,
Awe coursing through my once dormant veins.

She dances again,
The steps more fluid,
Carrying her closer,
Step by step.
We nearly touch,
She leans forward,
A promise on her lips,
Before flitting away again,
Drawing me away from the shadows.

Twirling, spinning,
She is movement.
A seemingly unstoppable force.
My steps fall in with hers.
We are dancing,
Bringing together light and shadow,
Twilight reborn.

She draws closer,
My arms wrap around.
Sweet innocence cloud her eyes,
Though her lips speak of scandal.
Curved into a smile,
She leads us through another dance.
Two steps forward, one step back,
Into the waiting shadows we go.
